1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Griddles at griddles.io ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Griddles is operated from the United Kingdom. These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

2. The Service

Griddles is a free-to-play word puzzle game available via web browser. The Service includes:

• Daily word puzzles across multiple categories and difficulty levels
• Leaderboards, streaks, and achievement tracking
• Optional user registration for cross-device access
• An optional paid premium subscription

3. User Accounts

Anonymous Users

You may play Griddles without registering. A randomly generated username will be assigned to you and stored in your browser's local storage. This username is tied to your device and browser — it cannot be transferred or recovered if lost.

Registered Users

You may optionally create an account with a username and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account.

You must not create a username that is offensive, impersonates another person, or violates any applicable law.

4. Premium Subscription

Griddles offers a premium subscription at £3.99 per month, providing:

• Access to historical puzzles from any previous day
• Ad-free gameplay

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you believe you have been charged in error, please contact us at hello@griddles.io.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Service
• Attempt to manipulate leaderboards or game results
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these terms.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and game mechanics on Griddles are the intellectual property of the Griddles team. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

7. Advertising

Free users may see advertisements provided by Google AdSense. These ads are served by third parties and are subject to their own terms and privacy policies. Premium subscribers do not see advertisements.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.

We are not liable for any loss of game progress, account data, or subscription issues arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will indicate the date of the most recent update at the top of this page.
